Justice Alice Robie Resnick Jurist - Retired In 1988, she was elected as the second woman in Ohio to serve on the state bench, and was subsequently reelected in 1994 and 2000. Justice Resnick served on the 6th District Court of Appeals from 1983 to 1988. Before that, she served on the Toledo Municipal Court from 1975 to 1983. Justice Resnick was instrumental in establishing the Crime Stopper Program in Toledo in 1981. From 1964 to 1975, Justice Resnick was in private practice and an assistant Lucas County prosecutor. In 1970, she argued before the U.S. Supreme Court in a case upholding the constitutionality of Ohio's death penalty. She was inducted into the Ohio Women's Hall of Fame in 1995, and received the Making a Difference Award presented by the National Association of Women Judges in 1996. In 1998, Justice Resnick received the Distinguished Lawyer Award of the University of Toledo College of Law Alumni Association and was the first recipient of the Alice Robie Resnick Outstanding Lawyer Award established by the Ohio Women's Bar Association. The Justice has been an ardent supporter of the Melodies of Poland radio program during the past decade. She is married to Judge Melvin L. Resnick, retired, 6th District Court of Appeals.
